Christopher Hayes, DVM

Dr. Christopher “Chris” Hayes grew up in Baker, Louisiana and graduated high school from Silliman Institute in Clinton. He attended Louisiana State University for his undergraduate studies before being accepted into the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Dr. Hayes graduated from the LSU School of Veterinary Medicine in May of 2009 with a mixed animal concentration and began working in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas as a relief veterinarian. During this time he worked primarily as a small animal practitioner, however he was able to work alongside several mixed animal practitioners gaining experience in large animal medicine and surgery.

In January of 2011, Dr. Hayes joined the Jefferson Animal Hospital in Baton Rouge as an associate small animal veterinarian where he practiced until November of 2016 before pursuing practice ownership. Dr. Hayes and his wife, Katy, opened Simply Southern Animal Hospital in May of 2017. Dr. Hayes is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the Louisiana Veterinary Medical Association, the Baton Rouge Area Veterinary Medical Association, the Louisiana State Animal Response Team, and the Central Chamber of Commerce. He has special interests in veterinary dentistry, soft tissue surgery, internal medicine, and diagnostic imaging. Dr. Hayes is a member of Plains Presbyterian Church in Zachary, Louisiana, along with his wife Katy. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, the great outdoors, wildlife photography, woodworking, traveling, and sports. Dr. Hayes and Katy have one son named Mills and a daughter Adalynn. They have 2 dogs, yellow lab named Copper, and a rescue healer mix named Blue.
